Melissa Zexter was born in Rhode Island and currently works in Brooklyn, NY. She has BFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of design.
Zexter combines the process of hand-sewn embroidery with the technologically of a more immediate medium of photography. Her portraits and body work explore identity and representations of femininity. she keeps a classic element to her work mainly keeping her images in black and white and embroidering in colour over the image she will keep to a specific pattern when sewing into the images.
She has exhibited throughout the United States. She currently teaches at The Dalton School in NYC. her work is amazing it holds an attachment and is almost haunting to look at.
