Grayson Perry is a 50 year old artist from chelmsford essex and has won the turner prize in 2003, known mainly for his ceramic vases and cross-dressing. Perry’s vases have classical forms and are decorated in bright colours,with their attractive appearance. There is a strong autobiographical element in his work, in which images of Perry as “Claire”, his female alter-ego, often appear.
as a child he praised and looked up to his teddy bear alan measles, and has now celebrated measles with a project dedicated across the country on a custom made motorbike, the tour of Germany started in september.
Perry states ” when i was a child, alan measles enemy was the germans but i thought it was about time we laid that metaphor to rest.”
the teddy spoke to him as a friend and father figure as a child, he held a high status in perrys life and has appeared in his previous work many times as some kind of god.
the bike was made by experts Battsinni but measles was included in every aspect of the bike all of the decor of the bike was designed by Perry.
